ALL OF A TWITTER

New developments @ Twitter will soon give you even more information about who is following who.

The @Mentions tab on twitter.com will be replaced by @Username (you) and Activity tabs, increasing the amount of social media information available.

@Username will not only contain your replies but also information about people who follow you, add you to a list, re-tweet or mark your tweet as a favourite. So now you will be able gauge the reaction of your followers very quickly.

The new Activity tab will act in much the same way but this will relate to all of the people you follow on Twitter, giving you so much information you may not know what to do with it!

All of this information will appear in ‘real-time' and you will be able to follow, tweet and re-tweet from within the tabs.

The changes should also boost the use of the Favourite button, known in social media terms as ‘favouriting'. Around since the beginning of time, or at least the beginning of Twitter, the Favourite button has only recently come into favour. With the new tabs it will be easy to see if one of your Tweets has been marked by a follower who appreciated it and encourage more people to use it.

Rolling out initially to a very small set of users, the new tabs will become more widespread over the next few weeks. Twitter is still thinking about how to make equivalent changes on their mobile applications but warns they won't be around for a while.
